  The word Konarak as it has been taken from local or rather from native Balochi language is the name of a tropical tree which is called (Konar) and can be seen  CULTURE
in all over the coastal belt of Balochistan. Balochistan with its vast and variable coastal range always influenced the people to come closer from the surrounding   PEOPLE
area and inhabitate the coast. After long period of time when rain was not so merciful for Balochistan's thirsty land, the local farmer did not left with much of    NEWS    
option except to leave the farming land and come closer toward the sea. Initially the migration took place one by one toward the coast where there was plenty of  MAP         
 WEATHER Konar tree and then the local called the place Konarak. The shore of Konarak coast was much more quite and calm as to compare to the other local coast,due  PICTURE 
         to that the locality started its formation and now Konarak is  one of the coastal cities of Balochistan. A city which is the second largest port city of Western Balochistan. The city itself is not widen enough due to the non availability of land and it has stretched only 17KM square to close to beach in all sides.  It is a newly born city and mainly all people of Konarak are related to sea business and fishing. Though Konarak has not been a well close city to the other well known cities of Balochistan except Chahbar but as one  of Balochistan's city it maintained its uniqueness in all aspect of life for it's people. Konarak with its uniqueness has kept its traditional way of living for its beloved one
Konarak which has the second largest port of Western Balochistan (Iranian Balochistan) lies on the edge of Arabian sea. The population of Konarak and its surrounding town and villages as estimated is around 154,912 people. The majority of its populations are Baloch ethnic origin and the main occupation is fishing. Having the safe sea shore from the neighboring area from seasonal heavy sea tides, attracts the others to use its facilities for fishing purposes as well.
This picture give you a clear view of people & their occupation But as comparison to other surrounding cities has not received the special blessing for the proper development by local authorities.
KONARAK TOWN AND ITS NEIGHBORING AREAS
With a population of 154,912 persons and covering an area of 17,155 sq km Konarak is composed of Chabahar,  and Negoor towns, three districts, 9 district villages and 557 villages.
In order to make necessary planning for industrialization of Chabahar near the Persian Gulf, about 40km from Konarak, plans have been devised. With a population of 33,348 persons, Chabahar port has been set as the capital of the region.
Historical Tees harbor which was an important and strategic port in the past in the Sea of Oman is located about 9 km north of Konarak port.
The sea has had the greatest influence in all aspect of life      for Konarak's population. The majority of the people have their special love for sea, due to it's uniqueness and commercial demands. As the town processed its route for development toward urbanization the standard of living of the people of Konarak was much influenced and changed quite rapidly. Though it will be right to say that Konarak somehow lost its primitive uniqueness but still the has its own influence.   
Major monuments in the region located around this historical port are as follows:
  1. Tees Historical Harbor with 15 monuments including dams, forts, graveyards, natural and artificial caves, etc.
  2. Ancient trees.
  3. The tombs of Seyed Gholam Rasool, Sheikh Rustam, Sheikh Pirsohrab and Sheikh Jahanshah.
  4. Golafshan hills.
  5. Sites dating back to paleolithic period around Konarak.
